An animated hippo once sang ‘Mud, glorious mud, nothing quite like it for cooling the blood’, but it is also true to say that it’s also very useful for truly fucking up a rather lovely festival. Oh yes indeed BC’s triumphant return to The Workhouse Festy was greeted with a down pouring of the wet stuff not seen since Noah stuck his head out of the window and said ‘I think I’d better get the washing in’. Suffice to say a ridiculously moist time was had by all. It’s also fair to say that things could have gone a wee bit better for your electro troubadours as the lack of lighting, music between bands and generally very high organisers proved to be somewhat of a poor mix when it came to putting on a show, but musn’t grumble….
Onwards, ever onwards dear eyeball using person of culture as BC rev up for tomorrow nights massive gig with the Dub Pistols. A whole wealth of Cardiff bands fill up the support slots (just have a look at that flyer!) and with all night toons supplied by Mutty Wango I reckon we’re looking at a kick-arse piece of gig-erey.

Two Salutes today!! The first goes to...a true genius of the music world, Mr George Melly who has died at the age of 80. I can’t say I was ever a great fan of his music, more of an admirer of a great talent, but his truly witty, intelligent and subversive mind, will be greatly missed. George Melly, Bomb Culture Salutes you!
And the second....
A big salute to Alan Johnston, freed after 4 months of captivity. Normally I wouldn’t give 2 shits about the fate of a journalist but Alan Johnston’s reports always came with a big ‘ol sheen of integrity. It’s also good to hear a horrific story like this ending in a smile and not an ‘oh shit not again’…So Mr Alan ‘About to become a millionaire off the back of my memoirs’ Johnston, Bomb Culture Salutes You!
And finally… Pete Doherty has escaped prison AGAIN! Seriously what does this guy have to do to be sent to jail? Maybe he should take up Monopoly…Leave him Kate there’s a far more attractive band just waiting for your call..
