Got no wood for Wood

If you’ve arrived here for toons go The Fabulous Bomb Culture Myspace Page!! www.myspace.com/bombcultureuk
If, however, you fancy a badly written opinion about something or other….read on….

Ooooooh a rant! I haven’t had one of those for ages, but something caught my little peeper last night and I just couldn’t help but spurt it all over the page….As I was watching TV last night, the chubby cheery face of down-to-earth, woman of the people, Victoria Wood came bouncing across the screen in that slightly befuddled no-nonsense way of hers. But what was this? She was working in a bakery? Well there’s none more ‘with the common touch’ than our Ms.Wood, so why shouldn’t she muck in with all those honest-to-goodness types down at the local bread makers? Well maybe because this wasn’t the local bakers this was ASDA, a subsidiary of the global small-business-battering-bastards WAL-MART. Yep, all of that good will that the (admittedly very talented) comedienne has garnered over the years has been channelled into selling the idea of another soulless enormo-mart. So here’s a thought, considering she has made a very good living chronicling the ‘humorous’ idiosyncrasies of the working classes, doesn’t it seem a bit hypocritical to champion a company whose giant supermarkets regularly lead to the closure of many smaller businesses? Just like TESCO and their hideously patronising ‘Every Little Helps…’ motif, the supermarkets are aiming for a cosy ‘part of the community’ feel, which is what they are, but only because there is no community left, as the small towns have closed down due to the unstoppable appetite of the supermarkets shareholders.
So, at the hilariously pathetic idea that Victoria Wood would ever read, or even care about my opinions here’s my plea: Stop now before you become as trustworthy as Lloyd-Webber-Bush-loving turncoat twat, Ben Elton.
Ahhhh, that it sooooo much better…..Now on to more important things, such as Bomb Culture’s upcoming London debut at The Wilmington, (Nearest tube Angel) on April 21st.
