Humph's not about...

Humph is dead! That’s all I can think of at the mo’. The legendary Jazz musician died peacefully on Friday and although I’m sure Jazz fans everyhere will be gutted I can’t say that it was that part of his sheer lovliness that I admired. Oh no, for me it was definitely his chairmanship of ‘I’m Sorry I haven’t a Clue’. To hear an 80 year old fella getting away with the most obscene kinds of double entendre on Radio 4 at Sunday lunchtime was an awesome subversive joy. His timing was only matched by his wit and because of all this Humphrey ‘Humph’ Littleton…Bomb Culture Salutes You!!!!!

As I’m a bit gutted about the whole thing and as BC are currently squirreled away rehearsing and recording, leaving me with little to report, here’s a prime selection of Humph’s greatest hits….enjoy!

Humph on Lionel Blair –
‘What a pleasure it was during Give us a Clue to see Lionel Blair pulling off twelve angry men using just one hand.’

Humph on his longstanding but never seen / heard assistant Samantha –
"Samantha's going out now for an ice cream with her new Italian gentleman friend. She says she's looking forward to licking the nuts off a large Neapolitan."

"She's popped out to visit an old gentleman friend of hers who's a notorious curmudgeon. However, she finds that if she butters him up properly she can sometimes get him to splash out."

"In her spare time, Samantha likes nothing more than to peruse old record shops. She particularly enjoys a rewarding poke in the country section."

And finally some of his great sign-offs…

And so, as the guardsman of time strokes the bearskin of eternity, and the sergeant major of fate orders him back to the barracks to put some clothes on..."
"...And so, as the hunter of time blasts the moose of eternity, and the dairy counter worker of fate sighs and grabs her mop..."

"...And so, ladies and gentlemen, as the 4x4 of destiny on the level crossing of fate stalls in the path of the speeding freight train of doom, and the signalman of time rushes to fetch his camera..."

Oh yes people, I’ve said it once, but I’ll say it again…Bomb Culture Salutes You!!!
Bomb Culture - Gawd Bless ya Humph
