That's the way to do it! Following last weeks awful band writing session, this week saw a wee bit of preparation go into the proceedings, resulting in the seeds of two new tunes, which I'm personally quit excited about. These are provisionally titled Snifter and Ask Me. The former is Led Zep meets The Beastie Boys, while the latter is a pop/punk/d&b mish mash with a generous helping of happy clapping. Well good fun. I plan to push us to have at least one of these ready for Howardian, but if we can sort both out, all the better.
In other news, yesterday I joined a website which hosts small files for free, so hopefully we should have some MP3s available for download in the not-too-distant future. Watch this space (or at least the space on the right, which is probably where the links will be).
One more thing, and that's to lament the end of an era of regular gigs at Callaghans through the very wonderful Crocker. I don't know the details, but suffice it to say that, from what I hear, it wasn't a very amicable split between the two parties. Damn shame, as it was a good chance for many like-minded bands to play on a night when you didn't have to worry about work the next day, and get paid well for it, too (although Crocker does still owe us £100!!!). Hopefully something else might crop up, but I doubt it. Considering this is a capital city, we are sorely lacking good places for unsigned bands to play, in comparison with, for example, the Rhondda, which has a fantastic live scene where even the shittest of 15 year old, spotty, patchouli-smelling oiks can get an appreciative audience.
Anyway, rant over.
